Voluntary Participation

Use of CodePause services, including the CodePause® Terminal EMR, OutsideINsights family engagement platform, and crisis support features, is entirely voluntary. By choosing to use our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with all applicable terms, policies, and legal requirements.

Not a Substitute for Professional Medical Advice

CodePause provides tools and technology to support licensed mental health professionals in delivering care. Our platform is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

  • Always seek the advice of qualified healthcare providers with questions regarding medical conditions
  • Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information accessed through our platform
  • In case of a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency services immediately

Crisis Support Services

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency:

  • Call 911 for immediate emergency assistance
  • Call 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (24/7 support)
  • Text "HELLO" to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line
  • Go to your nearest emergency room or contact your treatment provider

CodePause crisis features are designed to connect patients with their established providers, not to replace emergency services.

Privacy & HIPAA Compliance

CodePause is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining HIPAA compliance:

  • All protected health information (PHI) is encrypted and secured according to HIPAA standards
  • We execute Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with covered entities
  • Your data is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes

Accurate Information

Provide truthful and complete information to your healthcare providers

Account Security

Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials and account access

Appropriate Use

Use the platform only for its intended healthcare purposes

Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and our Terms of Service

Consent to Text Message Communications

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to text messaging services, you expressly consent to receive text messages (SMS/MMS) from CodePause and your healthcare provider at the number you provide.

Your consent is voluntary and not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. You may opt out at any time.

Types of Messages You May Receive:

  • Appointment reminders for scheduled therapy, psychiatry, or crisis support sessions
  • Treatment-related updates including care plan changes, medication reminders, and wellness check-ins
  • Crisis support messages from your established treatment provider during crisis episodes
  • OutsideINsights family engagement messages for collateral contact (family check-ins, safety plan updates)
  • Account and security notifications about login activity, password changes, and platform updates
  • Billing and payment reminders related to outstanding balances or payment confirmations

Message Frequency & Charges:

  • Message Frequency:Message frequency varies based on your treatment plan and engagement level. You may receive up to 10 messages per week for active treatment, or fewer for maintenance care. Crisis episodes may result in increased message frequency.
  • Message & Data Rates:Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier's plan. Standard text messaging charges from your carrier will apply. CodePause does not charge for text messages, but your carrier may.
  • Supported Carriers:Services are available on participating carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and other major U.S. carriers. Check with your carrier for compatibility.

How to Opt Out:

You may opt out of text messaging at any time using any of these methods:

  • 1.Reply STOP to any text message from CodePause or your provider
  • 2.Update your communication preferences in your account settings
  • 3.Contact your healthcare provider directly to request removal from text messaging
  • 4.Email support@codepause.com with your phone number and opt-out request

After opting out, you will receive one confirmation message, and no further messages will be sent unless you opt back in.

Privacy Notice: CodePause will never share your mobile number with third parties for marketing purposes. Text messages are secured and transmitted in compliance with HIPAA regulations for protected health information (PHI). For complete details, see our Privacy Policy.

Email & Platform Communications

In addition to text messaging, you may receive communications via:

  • Email notifications for appointment confirmations, treatment summaries, and account updates
  • In-app notifications within the CodePause® Terminal or mobile app
  • Patient portal messages from your healthcare provider's secure messaging system

You can manage your communication preferences for each channel independently through your account settings.

Limitation of Liability

CodePause provides software tools to licensed healthcare professionals. We are not responsible for clinical decisions, treatment outcomes, or the quality of care provided by individual practitioners or organizations. See our Terms of Service for complete limitation of liability details.

FERPA Notice for Schools

For educational institutions using CodePause services:

  • Student education records are protected under FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
  • Parents/guardians have the right to access, review, and request corrections to education records
  • Schools must obtain consent before sharing student information, except in specific FERPA-permitted circumstances
  • CodePause maintains FERPA compliance as outlined in our data protection agreements with educational institutions

Updates to This Disclaimer

We may update this disclaimer from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or best practices. Continued use of CodePause services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated disclaimer. We will notify users of material changes through our platform or via email.
